Business Fives Winter Season Final

Business Fives winter season came to a thrilling finale in Glasgow on Wednesday as teams from across the country from all corners of the economy came together.

Business Fives Winter Season Final was supported by insider.co.uk saw Business Fives 4,000th goal scored in the opening fixtures and another 204 goals followed after as the games took part at pace with fixtures coming thick and fast as teams aimed to become Scotland’s national business five-a-side champions.

After 7 qualifying events in Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh the Business Fives Winter Season Final raised £9,847 for various charitable causes across the events.

Ambassadors Gordon Smith and Jim Melrose were on hand for an engaging question and answer session and to hand out the prizes to the winning companies along with Keith Campbell from the Insider.

The winners were of Business Fives Winter Season Final once again decided by the champions league and Europa league stages of the Business Fives format with the winner receiving £1,500 for their chosen charity, the runner up receiving £750 and the Europa League winners taking home £545 for their cause.

In the opening group stages it was a free scoring Nairn’s Oatcakes team who topped their group along with an organised Graham Environmental Services side, who won the Dundee qualifier, triple Edinburgh champs, Anderson Strathern and Aberdeen winners Anderson Anderson & Brown.

As the Business Fives Winter Season Final progressed to the latter stages it was Story Contracting who topped their group on their run to the Champions League finals with AutoRek and Sky topping their Europa League groups to book a quarter final spot against Graham Pest Control and Nairn’s Oatcakes respectively.

Sky overcame Nairn’s on penalties but couldn’t duplicate the feat as Graham Environmental Services won the penalty shootout to book a final place against Story Contracting who won 2-0 against Aberdeen Accountants, Anderson Anderson & Brown.

The final was a thrilling encounter with Dundee based Graham Environmental Services eventually winning 3-2 against Story Contracting.  A standout performance from Craig McFadden seen him selected as man of the match in the final by the tournament ambassadors.

In the Europa League quarter finals MBN Solutions narrowly lost out on penalties, and 2 goals from Rubberatkins and James Frew weren’t enough to see them through.  In the semi finals of that section MacTaggart & Mickel got passed Anderson Strathern with an impressive display and Nairn’s Oatcakes won against Shepherd + Wedderburn thanks to goals from tournament top scorer Paul Tansey to book their place in the Business Fives Winter Season Final.

The teams had agreed in advance to split the charity donation between both their charities, Cash for Kids and Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity who were also the beneficiaries of the charity raffle for a signed Leigh Griffiths Scotland top.  Nairn’s who donated the Scotland top, won the match comfortably in the end.
