Charity Football Business Fives Glasgow
Charity Football Business Fives returned to Glasgow for the fourth event of its winter season.

Charity Football teams raise big sum for charity before a thriller that went down to the wire to see who qualified for the national final.
It was the turn of professional services in the latest Glasgow heat of Business Fives, supported by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and Insider.co.uk – with a goals fest matched by a winning contribution for each team’s chosen charities.
9 firms from a broad range of professions took part in the Charity Football event which was held indoors at the Soccerworld venue raising a combined £1,970 for various charities ranging from CHAS to St Vincent’s Hospice, the highest total from a single event as part of the winter season, taking Business Fives charity total to £6,118 in just 4 events.
The companies that took part in the Charity Football event were Shepherd + Wedderburn playing for Horatios Garden, Vodafone who raised a fantastic £1,100 playing for CHAS, Aggreko playing for Beatson, MBN Solutions playing for Children with Cancer, AutoRek ( 2 teams) playing for St Vincent’s Hospice, iomart playing for JDRF, Page Group playing for Enable Scotland and Gleeds playing for Cancer Research UK.
Sky sports commentator and former Celtic player Andy Walker was down for a question and answer session along with former Celtic man Jim Melrose and ex Rangers captain Ally Dawson, now with Charity Football organisation, Street Soccer Scotland.
On the pitch it was recruitment firms, Page Group and MBN Solutions who were joined in the Champions League group stages by the team from property and construction consultants, Gleeds.
In the Charity Football Europa League section law firm, Shepherd + Wedderburn were up against telecoms giant, Vodafone and power generation company, Aggreko with all three teams each picking up a win they could only be separated by goal difference, with the lawyers doing enough to secure a passage into the Champions League semi-finals.
The companies in the Intertoto cup section were playing for their chance to get into the Europa League semi-finals and it was the top two sides AutoRek and hosting company, iomart who booked semi final spots against Aggreko and Vodafone respectively.
The Champions League semi finals were closely fought matches with MBN Solutions overdosing Gleeds. Page Group squeezed passed Shepherd + Wedderburn to set up a showdown.
Kyle Maxwell was singled out by the Charity Football tournament ambassadors as their man of the match in the final for a match winning performance that saw Page Group overturn an earlier defeat to MBN and win the final 2-1. Both teams qualified for the national final via the champions league route with Page Group going on to play for Enable Scotland and MBN Solutions hoping to bring the donation home for Children with Cancer.
It was a similarly close match up in the Europa League with AutoRek winning out 4-2 against iomart thanks to goals from tournament top scorer Ryan Rae. The financial software firm qualified for the national final and will go on to play to win the Business Fives Charity Football donation for their chosen charity St Vincent’s Hospice.
They will go on to join teams from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen in the finals before the Business Fours, National business golf events.
