For the second year running Business Fives will contend the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards in the Responsible Business of the Year category at a ceremony being held at the EICC.  The event has grown to be one of the highlights of the Edinburgh business community’s calendar and will once again be hosted by one of the UK’s most accomplished broadcasters, David Tanner.

Having picked up the Causeway Social Impact and Sustainability award in 2018 Business Fives is aiming for back to back award wins and has been shortlisted alongside Mercat Tours and Leonard Cheshire for their continued commitment to creating a positive impact on society through their business activities.  The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of businesses in Edinburgh and showcase those that promote innovation and corporate social responsibility with the ceremony being held on the 28th February.

Founded in Edinburgh on April 2016, Business Fives runs corporate football and golf events with a charitable impact and has created a new, exciting atmosphere and network for professionals to meet new connections, whilst promoting active lifestyles through playing sport and raising money for good causes simultaneously.

Actively encouraging all levels of ability to participate, promoting health, fitness, wellbeing and community engagement; in the last year alone Business Fives events have been responsible for raising over £45,000 for charities thanks to the fundraising efforts of clients supported by a company commitment to donating 10% of all revenue to charity taking Business Fives overall total over £75,000 since inception.

With geographical and sporting expansion on the horizon for 2019, already having hosted successful events in England and soon launching Business Sevens, the national business mixed touch rugby event.  The company is best known for hosting the national business five-a-side tournament and Business Fours, the golfing equivalent.

Managing Director John McClarey said, “Once again we are thrilled to be recognised by our peers and delighted to be shortlisted for the Responsible Business award in a category we feel very passionate about.  We believe business has a responsibility to the local community and we are proud to have created something that facilitates that positive impact for our clients through our events.

“We have been proud members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce since we first started our business journey and we’re very thankful for the support they have given to our business.  Whilst we are delighted to be shortlisted the recognition deserves to go to our clients and participants who have made the effort to fundraise for various worthy causes throughout the country. To be shortlisted alone is brilliant and we wish our fellow nominees all the best on the night.

“Business Fives will continue to believe in, and develop our socially conscious ethos by inspiring businesses to create a positive impact on society through our events.”
