Thriller in Tees Valley Business Fives sees National Final line-up completed
Business fives Tees Valley – The

Middlesbrough legend Bernie Slaven was on hand to present the individual and team awards to the teams that took part as well as entertain the players with stories from his illustrious goal laden playing career.
With fundraising a huge driver behind Business Fives and companies from the Tees Valley Business Fives event combined to take the winter season charity total over £13,000 with notable contributions coming from Sytner Mercedes-Benz who raised £110 for the Daisy Chain Project and Cubic Transportation Systems who raised £78 for Cash for Kids. Five teams from the Tees Valley event now have the chance to win their slice of the charity prize pot up for grabs at the National final of over £4,300.
On the pitch at the Tees Valley Business Fives the action was relentless with fixtures coming thick and fast. Setting the early pace to top their groups was Capita, AM Recruitment, Visualsoft and Primetals Technologies. The tournament then progressed to Champions League and Europa League sections with qualification from the Tees Valley Business Fives being secured by the 4 Champions League semi-finalists and the winners of the Europa League.
Booking their place through the Champions League route were the teams from Sytner Mercedes-Benz, Visualsoft, AM Recruitment and Interserve Construction who played out their semi-finals safe in the knowledge they had secured a place at the National final.
The final was a tightly contested affair with the Visualsoft team defeating AM Recruitment by the narrow margin of 3 – 2 largely thanks to match winning Man of the Match performance from Visualsoft COO, David Duke. In the scoring charts Dan Hannifin from AM Recruitment helped himself to 14 goals to finish as the top goal scorer for the Tees Valley Business Fives event.
The Europa League quarter final matches were played out between Clipper Logistics and Primetals Technologies, Cubic Transportation Systems and Thirteen Group, ProPharma Group took on Capita while Jacksons Law Firm were up against Applied Graphene Materials to complete the line-up.
The final of that section was played out between ProPharma Group and Primetals Technologies for the final remaining qualification spot. Normal time failed to separate the two sides with the match finishing 1-1 thanks to the efforts of ProPharma Group team captain, Danielle Scarr who’s shot stopping heroics seen her named as the Player of the Tournament. The match was settled on penalties and it was Primetals Technologies who held their nerve in the shootout to book their place in Edinburgh.
