Business Fives returns to Leeds for Winter
Business Fives makes a return to Leeds on Tuesday 11th February with the support of 27 local businesses. Business Fives create sports events with a charitable impact in the local community throughout the UK and is coming to Leeds for the third time in this winter with the city having hosted the Summer National Finals in October.
To date, Business Fives have raised over £125,000 for charities as a result of the corporate football events and the aim is to surpass the £50k mark with this season’s National Business five-a-side football tournament. Boasting a stellar client list the event provides an excellent opportunity for team building and networking for footie loving firms as well as raising money for charity simultaneously.
Leeds firms have the opportunity to take the crown from current champions Willmott Dixon this February with qualification for the national final at stake as well. The five a side events will visit 14 English cities before the tournament concludes with the national final at the start of April where the Business Fives England national champions will be crowned. You can see all the winter events here.
With Business Fives’ company commitment since inception to donating 10 per cent from all revenue to charity, it will be the overall England champions who will dictate where the bumper donation ends up, with any luck it will be a Leeds based firm lifting the trophy and taking home the cheque for their chosen charity. Charities being supported by the companies taking part include Holbeck Together, SWAN
Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Yorkshire Animal Shelter, Martin House Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Marie Curie, Brain Tumour Research, Make a Wish Foundation, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board, Candlelighters, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Shabang, Luke’s Lads and Butterflies, Special Effects and The Trussell Trust.
Getting the chance to bring Leeds firms together while promoting a healthy active lifestyle is fantastic and given the companies already signed up in Leeds it’s shaping up to be a cracking return to Yorkshire. Companies involved so far include: Net Premacy Global Services, SoftCat, The Progeny Group, Redow Homes, The Torsion Group, Naughtone, Brewin Dolphin, InVentry, Thermac Hire, Twenty Six Digtial, Big Change, Mackenzie Stuart, JB Andrews, Sigma Group, BJSS, Team17, 2 teams from BW Legal, Smart Search, AND Digtal, Epiphany, Barnett Waddingham, Teva UK, 2 teams from Intermarketing Agency and the First Group.
Tournament founder and Business Fives managing director John McClarey – who also organises a highly-successful Business Fours golf tournament – says “We are really excited about coming back to Leeds with its rich footballing history we are expecting to see a lot of talent on show. We are delighted with how the local business community in Leeds have responded to the event with excitement building ahead of kick off. We really appreciate the support of all the companies involved and we’re looking forward to working with them to create a positive impact on the local community. Given the mix of companies we’ve had involved it promises to be another good networking opportunity.”
