Business Esports FIFA Tournament culminates as teams from the North East win charity prize

Business Esports inaugural FIFA Tournament reached it’s climax on Thursday 23rd April as 16 companies throughout the UK combined to play 640 matches scoring 3,393 goals in the process.

Teams were bidding for their chance to win £500 for their local NHS Foundation trust in two strands of the tournament on Xbox and Playstation 4.

The tournament was eventually whittled down to the top 8 teams from both consoles with the semi-finals being played between Drummond Central, OpenMoney, Thomson Gray and Love Energy Savings in the PS4 section.  Kingsway Claims, EQ Accountants, Love Energy Savings and Believe Housing making the line up for the Xbox semi-finals.

It was the two teams from the North East, Drummond Central and Kingsway Claims who eventually ran out the winners after some very closely contested finals.   Drummond Central team captain Joseph Pickering who scored 82 of his teams 351 goals on their way to victory said “We really loved participating in this event during lockdown and putting our years of FIFA experience to use in order to raise money for a fantastic cause”

In the ‘Europa League’ section, Pro Pharma Group were crowned double champs in both the Xbox and PS4 versions on finals night overcoming competition from companies like Grant Thornton, Keepmoat Homes, Ashurst and BulkTainer Logistics.

The tournament provided a welcome distraction for FIFA loving firms in the midst of these challenging timeand kept their corporate social responsibility activities up with all players making donations to the charities of their choice through taking part in the tournament.

John McClarey from Business Esports said “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed organising the tournament and thank everyone for playing in the right spirit.  There has been a real buzz in the online forums and we were able to watch some of the action remotely and were impressed with the overall standard and have had wonderful feedback from teams of all levels that took part.”

Teams from all over Scotland and England took part and Business Esports is planning further online tournaments with a charitable impact.  Find out more information on how you can get involved in the upcoming Business Esports Events here.
