The Liverpool Business Fives Event served up as feast of goals as 13 companies looked to secure one of the three qualifying spots at the Business Fives National final where there is over £10,000 up for grabs for charity.

There was some top-quality football on display, with 190 goals in 40 games and the teams combined for an incredible fundraising effort with a total of £4,813 going to various charities as a result of the event.

As a result of the fantastic fundraising, it was Accountable Recruitment who were crowned Top Fundraisers with £1,500 being donated to UK Kidney Association. They pipped Claremont Group who also raised an incredible £1,100 for Halton Play Council.

On the pitch Weightmans LLP, Accountable Recruitment, Mott MacDonald and Brabners all progressed to the Champions League semi-finals after a very competitive two group stages. Eventually it was Accountable Recruitment who came up against the unbeaten Mott MacDonald side who were looking to go one better than their penalty shootout defeat in our last Liverpool event.

It was Mott MacDonald who became Liverpool Business Fives champions and managed to eclipse the ghost of 2020 and ran out 3-2 winners in a highly competitive final, which even Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy was impressed with.

The win was all the more impressive after having to withstand heavy pressure from the Accountable Recruitment side who had Man of the Match, Cameron Nuttall on their team. He was singled out by  Alan Kennedy himself. Mott MacDonald won a £500 donation for CALM after winning, to bring their total to £725.

Mott MacDonald’s Ehsan Gerami was awarded the top goalscorer after a brilliant 15 goals throughout the day.

In the Europa League, it was Claremont Group, Iceland, Interlink and Vextrix who made it to the semi final stage after some hard-fought battles.

It was the Claremont team who beat Iceland on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw. The Claremont team had Player of The Tournament Becky Turner to thank throughout for her fantastic performances.

Following the football, the teams were treated to a special Q&A from Liverpool icon Alan Kennedy, who has won everything there is to win in the game.

Business Fives will be back in Liverpool for another qualifying event on Wednesday 23rd February and full details can be found on our website here.
