County Group Courageously Become Stoke Business Fives Champions
The talent on display at the Stoke Business Fives Event was brilliant as another set of companies looked to secure one of the three qualifying spots at the Business Fives National final where there is over £10,000 up for grabs for charity.
With 97 goals across two group stages and knockouts it was great to see so much action across the board.
Off the pitch, it was the Xtrutech team who were crowned Top Fundraisers with £360 being donated to their chosen charity, The Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
After a hotly contested group stage, it was teams from 24-7 Group, Fuchs Lubricants,County Group and Cumming Group who progressed to the Champions League Semi-Final stage.
Watched by Stoke hero and Undr The Cosh founder, Jon Parkin, the Champions League progressed to the final stages. It was the team from County Group who beat Cumming Group 3-0 in the final with George Durrell named as man of the Match by Jon Parkin.
As a result of their win and alongside qualifying for our National Final, the team received £500 that will be put towards their upcoming fundraiser in memory of their late colleague, Joshua Spender.
In the Europa League, it was Assurant, Suits Me Card, Xtrutech and Cumming Group, Manchester Office who made it to the Semi-Finals. The team from Assurant, who found themselves in the Europa League after missing out on goal difference were victorious after a convincing 7-2 win over the Cumming Group team. They had top goalscorer, Danny Frost to thank as he racked up an impressive 18 goals for the day.
Once inside, the teams had the pleasure of listening to former Stoke teammates Jon Parkin and Ricardo Fuller tell some tales of their days in the Premier League.
