Unbeaten Indigo take home the Glasgow Business Fives Title
Business Fives returned to Glasgow to kick start a busy 2022 full of events. The year got off to a flying start with 226 goals scored across 40 games and over £1,500 being raised for charity in the process.
Former Edinburgh Champions, Anderson Strathern, raised a terrific £255 for Cancer Research UK, with Harmoney Consulting raising £350 for Encephalitis Society.
But it was Edrington who were the Top Fundraisers on the day, raising £930 for SAMH after double fund matching their total. A fantastic effort from the team.
After the initial group stages, it was Search Consultancy, Jones Whyte, Anderson Strathern and Indigo Unified Communications who found themselves in the Champions League semi finals – thus qualifying for the National Final, on 7th April, in the process.
After a semi-final shootout win, Search came up against the unbeaten Indigo team in the final. Led by top goal scorer Ross McNeil, they ended the tournament unbeaten, winning 5-0 and securing £500 for their chosen charity, Sprit Aid.
As you may have guessed, the top goal scorer award was a foregone conclusion, with Ross McNeil leading the charts with a superb 25 goals. This also earned him Man of the match in the final, picked by our guest speaker, former Celtic and Dundee United man, Mark Wilson.
In the other individual awards, Katie Sharpe was selected as the Player of the Tournament for her contribution to the Blackadders run to Europa League glory.
Graham + Sibbald, Jackson Boyd and Arnold Clark all reached the Europa League semi finals alongside Blackadders but it was they who became champions of the Europa League, after a penalty shootout win over Arnold Clark in the final. This also meant they secured the 5th and final place at our National Final.
After the football, Mark Wilson, entertained everyone with stories from his time at Celtic and Dundee United.
