Anderson Strathern top Professionals
Business Fives Professional Services heat took place on Thursday 17th November and was won by Edinburgh based law firm, Anderson Strathern. The tournament which is raising funds for Street Soccer Scotland, with 10% of all proceeds going to support their charitable work creating positive change through football is also being sponsored by business communications firm, Difference Corp.
The heat ran in conjunction with the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and saw another competitive group of companies. It was teams from Murray Capital, Rockstar North, Anderson Strathern and the Faculty of Advocates who set down early markers in the group stages, all four teams recording 7 goals in matches against their respective oppositions. Heat top scorer, Scott Brownridge scoring all 7 goals for the Faculty of Advocates in a group match as they progressed to the quarter-finals.
It was an early trip to the drinks reception for teams from Caliber, University of Edinburgh Business School and Napier University who enjoyed their day out irrespective of their group positions.
Having finished top of their group Toshiba Medical let a one goal advantage slip against a team from Sky who went on to face eventual Runners-up, Edinburgh Airport in the semi-finals, losing out on penalties. A feat the Edinburgh Airport side were making a habit of winning against the Faculty of Advocates on penalties in their quarter final match after a hard fought 2-2 draw.
Anderson Strathern scored 25 goals on their way to being crowned Professional Services with notable performances from Michael Higgins and Business Fives ambassador, Pat Stanton’s man of the match award in the final, Gary Burton.
With the 2 finalists progressing on to the national final at the Oriam Centre on February 9th it was Anderson Strathern who’s strength in depth proved crucial eventually beating Edinburgh Airport 5 nil in the final.
