Commercial Finance Partnership Conquer Leeds Business Fives

Business Fives returned to Leeds on Tuesday 16th August. 39 teams came together to score 402 goals across 92 matches at the Goals venue. Teams from across the city were playing for donations for their chosen charity with hopes of becoming the Leeds champions and claim a spot at the National Final in October.

The teams raised over £5305 for charity and the top fundraiser prize was hotly contested. NewDay raised £1240 for Family Action, but it was the team from Financial Force who claimed the award having raised a terrific £1712 for Leeds Cystic Fibrosis Unit.

On the pitch, it was the teams from Softcat, Commercial Finance Partnership, Financial Force and Newday who made it to the Champions League semi finals. The team from Newday were edged out by Financial Force in the first semi final before Commercial Finance Partnership beat Softcat to set up the Finance Derby!

It was Commercial Finance Partnership who secured the £350 donation for their chosen charity, Make-A-Wish, courtesy of a 4-2 win in the final. Guest speaker Michael Brown identified Kai Wattney as the key man in the final and this scooped him the Player of the Match award as well as his tournament top goalscorer award for his 11 goals.

Both teams secured their spots at a National Final, back on home soil, in Leeds, on Tuesday 18th.

The Financial Force team were roared on by their enthusiastic supporters, Helen, Elisa and Louise, earning them our coveted supporters of the tournament!

The final qualifying spot and a £150 donation was at stake in the Europa League section as AA Projects, Sanderson Weatherall, Art of Cloud and Sagars all made it to the semi-finals.

The Final proved to be a cagey affair but it was the Sagars team who eventually claimed victory to become Europa League winners, earn a National Final qualifying spot and a £150 donation for Leeds Irish Health and Homes.

After the football, teams enjoyed a drinks reception and buffet and were treated to some brilliant stories from former Leeds, Manchester City, Tottenham and Fulham midfielder, Michael Brown.

Business Fives will continue to head across the UK for the remainder of our 2022/23 Winter Season.
