Success for Select Tech at Business Fives London Event
Business Fives continued the winter season in London where 22 teams score 367 goals and raised £2,890 for various charities resulting in a brilliant London debut.
La Fosse Associates placed third in the fundraising efforts having raised £440 for Beam with Zenobe Energy in front with £530 raised for Woodland Trust.
FINN Partners were crowned Top Fundraisers with an incredible fundraising effort of £515 raised for Anthony Nolan which the company fund matched to bring their total to £1,030.
On the pitch Bywaters, CSM, Kambi and Select Tech all progressed to the Champions League semi-finals. After both games went to sudden death penalties it was CSM and Select Tech who faced off to be crowned the inaugural London Business Fives champions.
After an initial tight match, it was Select Tech who went out in front and won 5-1 to claim the crown and a £500 donation for Brain Tumour Charity with CSM going on to play in support of the Samaritans. Both teams secured their spots in the National Final which will be held on Tuesday 5th April in Manchester where a £10,000 donation is at stake.
Joe Maybanks from Select Tech scored 26 goals on his way to winning the Top Goal Scorer, sponsored by BKL, as well as Man of the Match, selected by QPR and Crystal Palace star Shaun Derry. Bipin Dabasia from BKL was on hand to present the trophies to Joe after their teams run to the Quarter finals.
Paris Miller, was selected as the Player of the Tournament for her contribution to the Bywaters successful run into the Champions League semi-finals.
In the Europa League, Rail Delivery Group, The Goring Hotel, La Fosse Associates and Hippodrome Casino all played their way into the semi-finals with The Goring Hotel and Hippodrome Casino reaching the final.
After a tense final, it was Hippodrome who secured the win courtesy of a last minute penalty and qualified for the National Final. The team also secured a £250 donation for Cancer Research UK.
After the tournament the teams had the pleasure of listening to Shaun Derry share stories from his playing career, the highs and lows and some of the big names he’s been managed by. He also gave an insight into his new coaching role.
Business Fives continue the season with events in Bristol, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool in February before returning to London on Thursday 24th March to conclude the season.

Alongside medical support on site as standard for our Business Fives events for any injuries that might arrive we are taking some extra steps to mitigate risks associated with events.
We adhere fully with the latest government guidance and have implemented a series of covid secure measures in place at our events. In addition to this each player must confirm they have a negative LFT test or that they are fully vaccinated and are not currently displaying any covid symptoms.
