TSG Take Home Newcastle Trophy

Business Fives headed to the North East to host the Newcastle qualifier on Wednesday 16th February. 273 goals were scored in the 60 matches as £3,430 was raised for charity, the 24 teams campaigned for one of 3 spots at the National Final.

It was Faithful + Gould who were out in front having raised £590 for Young Lives vs Cancer and were crowned Top Fundraisers at the event.

As the wind picked up, so did the action on the pitch as Ward Hadaway, Ryder Architecture, TSG T2 and Leeds Building Society all made it to the Champions League semi-finals.

After a strong performance throughout the day from Ward Hadaway playing all games with no subs, it was Ryder Architecture who went 2-1 up to progress to the final and secure their spot at the National Final set to take place in Manchester on Tuesday 5th April.

Ryder Architecture were joined by TSG T2 who after a 1-1 draw, won on sudden death penalties and secured their spot in the National Final. In the final it was TSG T2 who were victorious and secured a £500 charity donation for Mental Health UK.

Scoring both the TSG goals in the final, Jamie Beadnall was awarded MOTM by John Beresford.

In the Europa League, it was Sanderson Weatherall who scored two last-minute goals against Haines Watts which secured their spot in the final. After another strong performance from Digitaltec, also playing with no subs, it was Adderstone who progressed to the final after winning on penalties.

Jack Lambert’s contribution to the Adderstone team with an impressive 19 goals saw him awarded top goal scorer.

In the final, Sanderson Weatherall dominated the game, going 3-0 up and securing their spot at the National Final as well as a £250 donation for Marie Curie.

The teams enjoyed a Q&A after the games with Newcastle United legend John Beresford who told stories of his playing days as well as discussing the future ahead for Newcastle United.
