SF Recruitment Secure the Double in Nottingham
Business Fives returned to Nottingham on Wednesday 23rd March to host its penultimate qualifier. 21 companies scored 302 goals in 62 matches and raised a fantastic £3,850 for various charities.
There were some great fundraising efforts across the board with Metric Search taking second place having raised over £600 for Switch Up Notts and Geo Green Power following closely with £500 raised for British Red Cross.
Out in front it was John Pye team who were crowned Top Fundraisers with an impressive total of £1,465 raised for Kidney Research.
In the champions league semi-finals, SF Recruitment comfortably skipped past PKF Smith Cooper with a 5-0 victory and went on to face Air IT in the final after their 3-3 draw against John Pye went in their favour during the sudden death penalty shoot out.
There was a £500 charity donation up for grabs for the winner of the final and with the destination of the donation decided as both teams were playing in support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, the teams could focus on securing the qualifying spot for the National Final where there is over £10,000 to be distributed between the winners’ chosen charities.
SF Recruitment had previous tournament experience having won the Leicester event earlier this month and were determined to make it a double. After initially going 3-0 down, Air IT managed to claw back 2 goals to make for a tense final but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to lift the trophy.
A great performance from Tom McGlinchey from SF Recruitment seen him singled out by Nigel Jemson as Man of the Match and SF Recruitment were crowned the new Nottingham champions and securing their spot in the National Final.
In other individual awards, it was Sam McElroy from Metric Search who won the Top Goal Scorer award for a second time, and the ladies’ player of the tournament award also went to Champions UK for a second time, this time Imogen Hunt securing the trophy.
In the Europa League, Metric Search beat L’Oreal 5-2 and went on to face TClarke after their 2-1 win against DHL. It was TClarke who came out on top in the final and secured a £250 donation for Treetops Hospice
