Tayside Football Tournament – Business Fives February 2022
Azets Triumph in Tayside
Business Fives hosted its Tayside qualifier on Friday 25th February where 19 teams competed for one of five qualifying spots for the National Final on Thursday 7th April held in Glasgow.
The teams made an equally impressive effort off the pitch with an incredible fundraising total of over £10,000 raised for various local charities.
There were many notable fundraising efforts and three teams raised in excess of £1,000 for their chosen charities. In third place, Stevens Scotland raised £1,152 for Cardiomyopathy UK. WM Donald who were out in front in the lead up to the event raised £1,640 for AberNecessities.
It was Findlays who raised an impressive £1,200 for Help for Kids which was then matched by the company to take their total to £2,400 and crown them Top Fundraisers.
J&E Shepherd, EQ Accountants, Johnston Carmichael and Azets made their way to the Champions League semi-finals with all 4 teams progressing to the National Final where there is £5,000 to be distributed to the winners’ chosen charities.
Azets, led by MOTM Patrick Brown, went on to win 2-0 in the final against EQ Accountants and secured a £500 donation for The Rotary Club of Perth Charitable Trust.
In the other individual awards, it was Fraser Smith who was crowned Top Goal scorer after contributing 9 of goals for the victorious Azets team.
In the Europa League, a second team EQ Accountants secured their spot in the final after a comfortable 3-0 win against Caltech Lifts and went on to face Castle Water after a 3-1 victory against mtc.
The EQ Accountants team will join their colleagues at the National Final after a 4-2 victory against Castle Water and also bagged a £250 donation for SAMH.
In the Europa Conference League, it was success for Stevens Scotland after a 4-0 victory against Exscentia.
The teams were entertained by Dundee and Dundee United hero, Lee Wilkie, at the buffet and drinks reception Q&A.
Business Fives continues its final Scottish qualifiers in Forth Valley on Thursday 17th March and Aberdeen on Friday 18th March.

Alongside medical support on site as standard for our Business Fives events for any injuries that might arrive we are taking some extra steps to mitigate risks associated with events.
We adhere fully with the latest government guidance and have implemented a series of covid secure measures in place at our events. In addition to this each player must confirm they have a negative LFT test or that they are fully vaccinated and are not currently displaying any covid symptoms.
